    Default theft of belongings?

I've been reading about people going out for dinner and drinks in the evenings. Is it safe to leave your backpack and belongings at the refugios while you are out? Of course I'd have my passport and money, etc with me always.

    Default Theft

I would say yes. I just left my things on my bunk each evening and never lost anything to theft. I'd say that 99.999% of your fellow pilgrims are quite honest and any thief likely may not have been a pilgrim at all.

The smaller the albergue the better - don't leave valuables lying around in the city albergues.
