Default Planning to walk a Section of the camino just not sure which !

    Hi to all !

I've just joined and planning a trip to Spain in early June for four weeks starting with a flight from Glasgow to Madrid and then a train up to Logrono.... I have spent the last six minths reading a lot of spritiual literature and thought that the camino de Santiago would be a great way to tap into that..... My plan is to walk from Logrono to Burgos and maybe some more with the intention of being on Santiago de Compostela long enough to spend a week studying Spanish at the university. I will likely take a train for the last leg so I can be there with planty of time and then I travel back to Bilbao for a retunrn flight. I was hoping to get advice of what parts of the route might be best to tackle at a leisurelybut good pace...I'm used to walking and hiking loads but think I will do between 16 km a day to allow me to immerse myslef in the spirit of the occasion rather than race through it all .... I guess Logrono to Bugos should take about 6 days ? Is Burgos worth staying in overnight ? hopefully some of you can help me work out my plan, maybe I should walk on to Leon from Burgos ? Hasta KJM

Welcome to the Forum KJM............Logrono to Burgos will be fine in 6 days and you might do it in 5 if you stretch your legs a bit. The last 6kms in to Burgos are best done on a bus as the airport route is walking down the side of a very very busy road surrounded by factories and industrial estates.

An extra day in Burgos is a welcome reward for finishing your first leg and if I were you, I would walk Burgos to Leon. It is called the Meseta and has views which go on for ever. In July/Aug it gets very hot, and can be tedious for those who are not so fit, but it is quieter and where you have time to think!

    Whichever way you walk, enjoy!!

I always think Logrono is one of the nicest places along the Camino Frances.
