Default Going on my first camino

    Hey everyone,

wow cant believe in only a few days I'll be there, the months of planning and day dreaming about it has flown by.

This forum has been a great help and has answered lots of questions for me and I was wondering if anyone would be able to answer the final few.

Does anyone know where I can find a time table for a trains from Bayonne to St. Jean?

I just realised I never booked accommodation for my first night in St. Jean and the website for L’Esprit du Chemin says they are booked up for the night I arrive, can anyone recommend alternative accommodation, do you think it will be a problem to find a place to stay when I get there without booking first?

is anyone else leaving next week too? I get there on Tuesday 21st, very excited

    Kindest Regards,
    Clare

    Hi Clare -

If you are flying in to the Biarritz airport, there is a desk there with bus info to Bayonne and train info to SJPP. At least, there was 2 years ago.

No space for us at L'Espirit either. We stayed with a nice French lady next door to the pilgrim office. No reservation, we just showed up. She was mad at us because we spoke no French. You might want to learn a few magic words if you don't know them already. We were fortunate to have a Camino Angel bunk with us and translate. Poor girl ... her pack weighed in at 17kg, and she only lasted a week. <sigh>

    Buen camino !!!

Lucky you to be there!!! I envy you a little, though my own Camino is only three months away. I will start at the 26th of September. Probably less crowded.
I wish you the best of luck!!!
