There will be plenty of folk on the flight, but based on my previous August starts from St Jean, there won't be that many Brits. A lot of pilgrims from Scandinavia find it easier to fly to Bairritz via Stansted than trying to get to Bairritz direct.

The Bairritz flights from the UK covers the UK residents going backwards and forwards to that part of France and the Bairritz region is a popular holiday destination for the more upmarket holiday maker. You can spot the Pilgrims cos they are the ones with rucksacks and baggy trousers with bulging map pockets queuing outside the Bairritz terminal door at the bus stop waiting for the bus to Bayonne station!!

The suggested max all up weight of a Camino pack should be no more than 10kgs including water and any food.

The most bulky item is a sleeping bag so if you want to carry the bag inside the pack, then find a 50/55L bag. The actual empty weight of the bag is vital and there is a wide variation between makes of 50/55L bags. It must have a frame and waist belt.

If the funds run to it find an Osprey Atmos 55L pack. I have used one for five years on the Camino and they are excellent. NorthFace and Berghaus make good bags.
