What route to do
Hi all
I am interested in doing the Camino de Santiago, or at least part of it.
I wouldnt be able to do it all as id day the most time i could get off work would be 14 days. This would include travelling to and from the start/finish point so probably around 10/11 days walking so I'd say around 200kms altogether.
Someone suggested walking from Ponferrada to Santiago, which is around 200kms.
Anyone done this or could you suggest an alternative router perhaps?
thanks for any replies

Re: What route to do
Hi Event ~
Sounds like a great plan. The stretch between Ponferrada and about Sarria includes some truly beautiful scenery. I'm not sure what time of year you're planning, but keep in mind that each August the last 100 kms is packed with local pilgrims.
If August is your only choice, you might instead consider the last 200 +/- kms of the Via de la Plata. I did this in July 2010 and had a great time. I walked 260 kms in 10 days beginning at Puebla de Sanabria, which I accessed via a bus from Madrid. There are some major uphill climbs, but also some amazing scenery, including the stretch between A Gudina and Laza which is quite remote and follows the ridge line above a beautiful lake. The Via de la Plata has a small percentage of the number of pilgrims who walk the Camino Frances, and once you get into Galicia the albergues are quite new and beautiful.
Buen camino!
