Re: Camino de Santiago
Hi Papaco ~
Not sure exactly what you're asking. The Camino de Santiago is a pilgrimage to the town of Santiago de Compostela in northwest Spain. The pilgrimage can occur at any time of the year during any year.
The Feast Day of St. James ("Santiago" in Spanish) is July 25 of each year. As you might guess that's a day of major festivities in any town called Santiago (in Spain, Chile, etc.). The Feast of St. James becomes a particularly special day when July 25 lands on a Sunday. In towns called Santiago this becomes a very special feast day, sometimes a series of celebrations spanning many weeks. This event occurred in 2010 last and will occur next in 2021. In Santiago de Compostela it is tradition for the King and Queen of Spain to visit Santiago for a special celebration and in 2010 the Pope came to Santiago as well to celebrate the special day. Any Catholic who makes the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in the special year receives a plenary indulgence -- forgiveness of all sins.
Hope this answers your question. Peace ~
