Default Female walking alone from Le Puy

I walked the Camino Frances starting in St Jean Pied de Port last fall. I have been wanting to do the camino again, however, I would like to start from Le Puy. My one hesitation is whether it is safe or not to walk alone as a twenty one year old female through France.
I was also wondering if albergues are more rare in France than they are once you reach the spanish part of the route? How is the trail from Le Puy to St Jean? Is the path clearly marked? Also, is it more costly in this part of the route?
    Thank you!

Hi Berube. Welcome to the Forum. The Le Puy route is as safe as the Camino Francis. There are many French pilgrims on this route. It is more expensive on this route as there are not albergues in the same sense as on the route in Spain. In France they are called Gites and generally include breakfast and seldom involve big dormitories...more like 4 or so beds in a room. Sheets and blankets are often included or available for a euro or two.

    Lots of infomration there.
