    Question Foot wear???

I think I could use some help with what type of boots to buy. I plan to walk the camino late April, May next year. Thought I would buy my boots now. So many choices. I ended up purchasing a high end boot called Meindl. These were very pricey boots but from what I have been reading, boots are not the thing to cheap out on. However, maybe I bought a boot over the top. I'm having second thoughts and would like to hear from others about their boots. I can still return these so any input at all would be great. They are also Gortex, which I think may be too hot, Not sure????
    Thanks

    Hi Kym,

I think you have made a good purchase. I was thinking of buying a similar pair myself but ended up with a pair made by Berhaus. The first time I walked the Camino was in April 2009 and I can say that boots are the only option for this time of the year. Should you go in May, you could use a trail shoe, as the track is not as wet. This year I walked the VDP with a light boot made by Craighopper. It was September and hot, so I did not waterproof boots. Lucky for me, as they fell apart. I would stick with what you have and break them in well before you go. They are the most important piece of kit you will bring.
    Enjoy you Camino.

The Timberland 6 inch Premium Leather is what I walked in this May/June and will walk again this spring. They are the most comfortable footwear with the most ankle support ever, breath so never get hot and are waterproof. Plus they look cool. :]

i like the timberlands...the wrangler version are similar but lighter. For the brits on the forum sports direct do a kangol version that are light and durable. My preference is foe the tan colored boots not the black. It helps that i wear these kind of boots to work so have a permanant supply of well worn in boots to walk in.
Afer what pack to take and how to get there and back from the camino...i think boots/shoes are the things that occupy my mind most in ther dark winter months

    Hi Kym

I've never had a pair of Meindls but they have a very good reputation and, if you break them in well beforehand, I'm sure they'll serve you well.

In April or May you don't need to worry about heat.
