I have done it twice from SJPP to Santiago - first in May/June 2008 and then in April / May 2011. Loved it!
    Regards, Eugene

    Hi Mandsie

Well, that leaves you with enough time to prepare! Be sure not to overpack and if possible, train with your backpack on - especially in the last month or two before you go. Walking with 8kg on your back for 15-20km a day takes some getting used to.

May/early June is a good time of the year to walk as it is not so hot and the wild flowers are at their best. Have a great time! Regards, Eugene

Hi Capetonian! There was a workshop in Cape Town on 3 March. Dont know whether there will be another one this year. If you subscribe to the South African chapter of the Confraternity of St James (which is very cheap) you will receive regular newsletters by email which will inform you of planned events etc. Their website is www.csjofsa.za.org . You could contact them also for advise on good guidebooks, to get the pilgrims passport required to sleep in the albergues and they could refer you to somebody that has walked the camino and who will be able to answer questions you may have. These forums are also an excellent source of good practical advise. Would love to hear about your plans! Best, Eugene
