Camino In March
Well Lesie,
Forum is super!! I'm all booked now but still have to buy all the gear..took ur advice and booked via biatrz..might be cutting it a week short though because of work stuff but will definatly be making it to santiago! Reckon it's gonna be pretty cold in March so i'l be layering up with thermals etc!! So nervous about it but i know i have to do it..do you reckon it would be safe enough to pick up maps in st jean?
Anyways i'l update you on the road on how it's going for me..here's hoping there is internet and a place to recharge my ipod!
Again best of luck with the forum and site,
Miriam
ps- i cant find any of dara's maps - do u reckon dermot would have them cause i think he was the last to walk it right?

Hi good to hear from you, I hope you are well. Re the maps, yes I think Dermot may still have them - if you need his number call me.
As for actually needing maps... I never used a map at any time for route finding - the route is so well marked it is almost impossible to get lost. There are big yellow arrows for most of the way and various other waymarked signs. Small maps are handy for seeing how far it is to the next village or town and if there is an albergue there or not.
The pilgrims passport they issue at St Jean has a map on the back of it and as I entered every region I would pick up more information as I went along. Two things about the Camino Frances - having somewhere to sleep and finding your way are not generally a problem.
Let me know how you get on and the best of luck, take care.
