Default Best two-week long Camino route?

    Hi!

I need to be back in Dublin before Wednesday 26 August but between now and then I would like to walk some part of the Camino. I've been thinking of it for years, ever since I read in a historical manuscript about a local man receiving a licence to walk it in the 15th century. I had never heard of it until then so now that I finally have the time I'm going to do it on my own. I've been stuck in a library reading books for years so this will be a huge spiritual change for me.

There is an Aer Lingus flight from Dublin to Madrid this Saturday morning, 15 August, but I am not sure what route I could go on from there. Aer Lingus also fly to Bilbao, Barcelona and Santiago de Compestela, although the latter is now very expensive. My chief question as succinctly as possible is:

    1. Given my flight and time restrictions, what route would you recommend for walking in order to arrive in Santiago two weeks later?

I'm a bit overweight so one of the easier walks would be best.

    Thanks a million

    Hi Aodh?n,

Leon would be 2 weeks away from Santiago, but you may need to shorten the distance by taking a local bus from there. It depends on travel time from wherever you fly to. You will also need about two days in Santiago.
The other alternative is to fly to Porto and come North. The time scale you have would suit. I do not know if Aer Lingus do Porto. Ryanair do Lisbon.

    Best wishes with your walk.

    Sean.

I would agree with Leon, though the day walking out of Leon is not that nice - mostly industrial - so a bus forward a day might be an idea.

Also the train from Bilbao is shorter than Madrid.
Why do I keep walking when driving is faster?
