    Default Forwarding extra Luggage

I'm starting the Camino in Leon and will continue after the walk to other European cities. Can anyone tell me the best way to send my one piece of luggage to Santiago de Compostela and rough costs and reliability? Thank you.

You can post luggage to poste restante in the post office in Santiago. (Lista de correos - I think)

    Prices are here:
.: Correos :. Paquete Azul: Tarifas
    So 15 to 20kg for €13.50

    Hope that helps.

    Default From SJPDP?

    Hi Gerald,
I assume it is possible to fwd to the PO in Santiago from St Jean as well as from Spain? I remember a post about this but couldn't find it with a search.
How would you address such a parcel? Does anyone have an idea of the cost from France?
Are there other methods for sending things ahead to Santiago?
    Thanks, Roseallee

    Hi Roseallee

First of all, UK English "poste restante" is called "general delivery" in US English, "lista de correos" in Spanish and "poste restante" in French. I just want to make sure we're all on the same page!

Second, it may not be possible to address parcels from outside Spain to lista de correos. But I'm not sure about that. You can try from SJPP and if it doesn't work you can send it to this lot: Camino de Santiago de Compostela Travel Agency who will keep it for you (for €15).

There was a discussion over on 'a rival forum' about this which gives the address of the post office in Santiago.

I think one of the posters, Ivar, runs the Camino Travel Centre.

According to La Poste's website 15kg to Spain will set you back €53.25.

Presumably you could also use DHL, FedEx, DPD, etc. from home to the Camino Travel Centre. Probably expensive though!

    Hi Gerald,
Many thanks for such clear information. I checked it all out and think I will go with the Travel Agency folk. I like the idea of a confirming email saying they have received it & a 60 day storage period seems fair. I notice they work as agents for Ryanair so it will be handy for printing boarding passes there. Roseallee
PS I checked out courier prices & they were too expensive.

I think there is enough space in the Camino area for more than one forum - well I hope so.
