Hello all,

First post here and wanted to see what people think of this crazy idea I have for next year (2010).

I am planning a RTW (round the world) trip that will last about 6 months or until I run out of money. I'm hoping to leave the US in mid-April. My initial plan was to start my trip with the Camino. It's been a dream of mine for a while and I plan to do the Frances Route. I was going to allow myself a month or so to do the Camino.

The RTW trip is tentatively going to look like this:

Portland, OR to France (camino)
Spain (camino) to England/Ireland
England/Ireland to Sweden
Sweden to Italy (Croatia and Greece)
Italy to Israel
Israel to Africa (country TBD)
Africa to India
India to Thailand
Thailan to Japan
Japan to Mexico
Mexico to Portland, OR

My question is basically, if 2010 is a Holy Year, and I start in mid-April, do you think the numbers of pilgrims will be peaking at a certain time of the year as opposed to another time of year? I don't mind lots of people, I just don't want to cart a tent/sleeping bag, etc with me if I don't have to, especially, since this will be the first part of my trip. I have friends in Europe I plan to visit that I can leave gear with or have shipped to/from, so if I have to do a mid-trip change of gear, I can.

Any thoughts or comments are greatly appreciated.
