    Default Weather/Heat in July

Hi, I've just discovered your site. Its great-- such useful information. Thank you for all the helpful advise.
I will be walking part of the camino ( last 120 k ) with friends during the first week of July. Would like to know if it will be very hot during this time of year. We hope to start walking before 7 am each day in order to avoid the heat. Is it likely to be cool in the early morning-- ie would we need a light sweater etc?
    Any advise would be appreciated.

Yes I would advise a light sweater and even in July a light rain jacket. It can be a little chilly in the mornings - but it does warm up very quickly - and with all that walking....

    Enjoy.

Default Re: Needing a light sweater AND a raincoat...

It depends, mainly on you. In July and August the weather is warm. Unless you are walking really really slowly, wearing a rain coat is enough to keep you warm as you are walking for the first hour or so till the day warms up or the sun gets over the hills. I'm saying this from the point of view of limiting what you carry. My experience walking the Camino Frances in the summer of 2007 was that nearly everyone carried substantially too much and within a day or two had thrown out/given away a lot. It's hard to believe but after a few days of back ache you'll be looking at your lightweight nail clippers and saying, "too heavy... bye, bye."
