    Default Dangerous Wildlife.

    Hi There,

I happened to be going for a hike this past weekend on one of my usual routes in my hometown and happened to come across a snake... not a dangerous one, but nevertheless it got me to thinking... What kind of creatures should i expect to come across on my Camino? I have never been to Europe so I am unfamiliar what the wildlife is like there... should i be concerned about posionious bugs or reptiles or any other type of dangerous animal?

I havent heard anybody mention anything in other posts so hopefully thats a good sign that its a non-issue.

    Thanks a bunch!

The fact that nobody's replied to this really says it all! When you walk the Camino you don't see much wildlife. Apart from the odd rabbit I can't recall seeing any wild animals. Most of the Camino Frances is through pretty intensively farmed country with the devastating effect on wildlife that goes with that.

That said, you should always be on the watch out for snakes. Although I've never seen one on a Camino and I've never heard of anyone who has.

After that it's really only the chinches (bedbugs) which provide any excitement. Some kind of antihistamine cream might be useful against them.

    Hi Gerald,

Thanks for getting back to me!

I was hoping that the lack of feedback from others was a sign that there is nothing to worry about, which I must say I kind of expected but still wanted to confirm.
