    Dear Sunflower

I noticed that nobody's replied to your question. That's probably because they're not really sure what to say to you.

Anyway, I've met Americans, Canadians, British, Irish, Germans, Japanese, Poles, Italians, French, Hungarians, and a few others that I couldn't identify, who only spoke the language they learned on their mother's knee and who managed fine with patience, a sense of humour and a willingness to eat whatever was put in front of them.

So I'm sure you'll be fine!

Yeah, don't know why I missed this post either.

I speak only English, well I can order coffee in German and Czech but neither are much use in Spain.

There were time when I thought it would be great to speak some Spanish - in a few albergues it would have been handy - but twice I walked along the Camino Frances without a word of Spanish and never using the phrase book that I took.

Even when I ended in hospital one night, (that's another story), I again got by without Spanish.

What I found is that so many people are on the Camino Frances from so many different countries often people use English to talk. If not speaking anything else but English is your biggest concern you will be fine.

    Enjoy.
