Default Warning: Pilgrims Guides by John Brierley

If you are wanting to buy any of the John Brierley Guides, which are excellent, make sure you buy the current version. The books tend to be updated fairly regularly and so the lists of Albergues etc will change as new ones are opened. Some on and off-line booksellers are still offering older editions which are somewhat out of date.

The Brierley Guide to the Camino Portuguese was updated and re-printed with new maps and photographs at the beginning of 2011.

From St. Jean Pied de Port to Santiago de Compostela is currently on 7th Edition (2011)

Santiago de Compostela to Finisterre Including the Muxia Extension is now on the 2011 edition.

The following website will tell you the current edition:

Camino Pilgrim Guides: Camino Santiago de Compostela, Frances, Finisterre and Portugues

I have also just added a page that has the map from St Jean to Roncesvalles. It is a copy of the map and guide they give out in St Jean. I still go by the idea that you don't need a map - but something is needed only to tell you how far to the next town/ village/ water/ coffee/ bed for the night.
