Safe places to leave a vehicle en route?

I will have been travelling in Spain and Portugal in my ancient campervan before I start my camino next month.
Does anyone know of anywhere along the route where I could leave my van safely?
I am starting at SJPP and thought to leave the van at somewhere like Pamplona or Burgos, then shuttling the van further on before returning to where I left off walking.
Alternatively, I would consider leaving my van in Santiago to pick upon completion of the journey.
Any help / ideas would be gratefully appreciated!

I would strongly recommend that you leave the van at one end or the other. There are good fast buses that will get you back to your van . If you keep shuttling the van it will destroy the great feeling that you get of just being free to enjoy the great walk. Free yourself of the day to day responsibilities during the walk.

The car was fine apart from needing a push to start. There is a big car park at the back of the Abbey.

I've had time to consider your advice as I fell and broke my wrist just a few days before I was due to leave!
Now with my plastercast off for the last 10days I have arrived in Santiago.
Your advice is good so I am leaving my van at a campsite near Santiago and will walk back to it - hoping not to have any more accidents!
What will be will be!
