Default Transport from Pamplona (route from St Jean)

    Hello,

A friend and I will be starting our walk (first time walkers) from St Jean during the first week of June 2010. We're catching the overnight train from Paris, so getting there is sorted. However, we are a little unsure as to where would be best for us to end our walk (we can only walk 5 to 6 days from St Jean).

Your advice or suggestions on where we should walk to from St Jean within 5 to 6 days, and how it would be best to travel from the end point to get us back to our final destinations (home) - being London and Zurich respectively.

Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

    Regards,
    Nicola

What fun! If you can squeeze out about 175 km in the time available you could get as far as Logrono. But another way to look at it would be to go as far as you want each day and bus it either back to Pamplona (which you should be able to reach on 3 days from SJPDP) or ahead to Burgos when you run out of time. Both towns then have train connections that can get you to Bilbao and its good airport. Bilbao has direct flights to London on EasyJet and various connections to Zurich. The Guggenheim in Bilbao is a bonus while you're there. Check out the Renfe website for Spanish train schedules.

    Buen camino!

Oops. Should've mentioned that if you choose to train it from Pamplona it's easier to connect via train from there to Irun, then to San Sebastian where there are lots of international flights.
