Default Long term parking in Santiago & travel to St Jean Pied de Port

hi, I hope to walk the Camino France in October. I am looking to travel to Santiago late Sept, leave my van there and travel to St Jean to start the walk, picking my van up at the end...

    Can anyone tell me:

    1. Is there somewhere safe to leave my van in Santiago for the period of the walk?
    2. How to get from Santiago to St Jean?
    3. What the weather is like in October? - hopefully not too cold! ; )

    thanks,

You can park your van in Santiago near the airport at :::Aparcamiento Lavacolla::: for 5E/day. Train is your best bet from Santiago to SJPP, but isn't that easy or quick:

Train (Renfe) Santiago to Hendaye, France 11.5 hours (via Ponferrada, Leon, Burgos, Vitoria, San Sebastian)
Train (SCNF) Hendaye to Bayonne (via Biarritz), France, 1/2 hr
Train (SCNF) Bayonne to SJPP, 1.5 hrs

    Buen camino!
