From Santiago to Samos in the evening?

Hi all,

I am arriving from Dublin Sep 14 at 16.15 in Santiago and will walk the last part of the Camino. Through this website I found out that the bus to Sarria is leaving at 6 pm so I should be ok with that part. Now ideally I would like to start walking from the Monastery in Samos. Would anyone know if it is possible to find a connection to Samos that late in the evening as apparently the bus takes 3 hours?

Hi there Nathalie!

There's a bus from Sarria to Samos-Piedrafita but not everyday. It leaves Sarria every saturday at 14:20 and every sunday at 18:00. The Sarria Bus Station phone number is this one: 982 532 620. Samos is about 15 km far and I think you will need to call for a taxi. There in the bus station in Sarria you'll find the taxi driver phone number so you can call him at anytime. It will cost you about 1Euro/km.

About travelling from Santiago to Sarria, yes, you need about three hours because you have to wait between one and other. You have to take Freire bus from Santiago to Lugo. And then, from Lugo to Sarria, you have to go with Monbús bus. Here there are the phone numbers you may need:

· Santiago's bus station: 981 542 416
· Lugo's bus station: 982 223 985
· Freire buses enterprise: 981 588 111
· Monbús buses enterprise: 982 254 040
· Sarria's bus station: 982 532 620

And I have some timetables:

Santiago - Lugo:
0700 MO-SU, 0915 MO-FR, 1100, 1245 MO-SA, 1600, 1700, 1830, 2000 MO-FR SU, 2100 FR, 2130.

Lugo - Sarria:
0645, 1035, 1200 SU, 1245 SA, 1345, 1550 SA, 1835, 2045, 2230 SU.

Sarria - Piedrafita:

That's very helpful. Just one more question about your timetable. Do the busses to Lugo and Sarria go from the airport or from a bus station?

The ones from my timetable leave from the bus station but I remember that the one I took went to the airport. Maybe some of them stop there. Call and check it if you'r not sure.
