staying in Biarritz

I will be travelling throughout france and ireland with family the 2 weeks before starting the camino. My plan is to fly from Shannon to Biarritz, then get to St. Jean. Is Biarritz a good place to stay over night to sort of shift my energy from family vacation to solo pilgrimage? Is it a nice seaside town? Anyone suggest a hotel or hostel there? I plan to begin the camino on or about the 25th of Aug, 2011.

Bairritz is a very up-market seaside resort for those who live in Paris. Very nice and very expensive! Try Bayonne to stay if you need to.
