    Default paris to st jean

    Hello all,

My first post on here. I am all very excited about the prospect of walking the camino. I have a question some of you may be able to answer for me. What is the best way to get to St. Jean from Paris. I looked at tgv train but it seems very expensive. I presume local trains will be going there, but I haven't been successful in finding this information on the internet, not in english anyway !! I presume I need to pre book a train and not just rock into Paris expecting to hop on the first train...

I would be very grateful for your suggestions.

    Hi Grainne ~

It's sometimes cheaper (though not as earth-friendly) to fly to Biarritz then transfer to Bayonne and take the St. Jean train from there. EasyJet has a 18:30 flight to Biarritz and it's fairly easy to taxi or bus to the Bayonne train station from here. For a just a little more you can take the train from central Paris or CDG airport to Bayonne. Look for train schedules on www.raileurope.com or SNCF : Voyage, Transports et Logistique.
    Buen camino!
