Default Travelling from Halifax, NS to SJPP

So I have found some awesome deals on flights through canadianaffair.ca and ryanair.com to get me to Madrid but I'm trying to figure out details on how to get from Madrid to SJPP and from Santiago de Compostela to Madrid. I found a train pass that ends up being $357 for 1 day of train travel in France and 3 days in Spain. But I am still unsure as to how to get from Bayonne to SJPP. I see people talking about bus or van. Is there a company online to book this with or is it just something you show up for? And how much does it cost? Does anyone know any other ways to get to SJPP from Madrid and from Compostela to Madrid?

    Thanks so much in advance

You can get to Pamplona from Madrid on the bus or train. In Pamplona you can take a bus to Roncesvalles and a taxi to SJPP.
Or if you fly from London to Biarritz then bus to Bayonne and train to SJPP.

I flew once from Santiago to London with Ryanair and home to Toronto. And once I flew Santiago to Madrid with Spanair and then home to Toronto.

    Hi Christine ~
Travel to SJPP from Madrid is not too bad. Take a train to Pamplona using Renfe, then arrange a van ride through Express Bourricot from Pamplona. If you begin after June there is a bus via www.alsa.es that runs in the summer to SJPP.

Returning from Santiago is even easier. There are a couple of Rene trains from Santiago to Madrid, my favorite being the overnighter which, depending on your return flight, may give you sightseeing time since it lands you at the Atocha station right in the middle of the museum district. There's also a Santiago to Madrid Airport bus that allows you to avoid the airport connect. Plus there are flights from Santiago to Madrid which usually are in the $150 range or less.

Continuing from my other post, at the end of my first camino I flew from Santiago with spanair to Madrid.
The day I flew into Madrid to start the camino, I went right to the spanair ticket booth at the Madrid airport and bought the spanair ticket there for the date I thought I would arrive in Santiago. Met someone on the plane coming over from Canada who suggested that to me. It was cheap buying it in advance.
The other shorter camino I did the following year in spring, at the end of my camino I flew from Santiago to London with ryanair and booked that flight online from home, guessing when I might arrive in Santiago. I came to Spain for that trip from London on easyjet to Bilbao and then bus from Bilbao to Burgos. (repeated camino from Burgos to see the difference in spring from fall.)
