end august - october
Iam wanting to know what the weather is like from the end of august through to end of october. We are considering walking the camino frances or the camino del norte depending on what the weather is like.
thanks
Oliver.

Hi Oliver, welcome to the forum.
It will be hot/warm, but in the mountains it can be cold - so layers are required.
The further west you travel the more rain there will be - waterproofs are always needed at some point along the camino.
But it is a better time to walk than midsummer as it is very busy and hot then.

Hi Oliver
I walked it in September 2006, we arrived in Roncesvalles on 3rd sep, and we took about 6 weeks to walk..its a very peak season time, but the weather was great...quite nice to begin with, but as we moved slowly towards the west coast it was wetter.....especially in galicia, make sure you have wet weather pants, jacket, and it can get chilli at night..but all in all great time to go, only problem is getting a bed, Sep is when lots of the europeans do it, so sometimes there is a rush for beds, most peope are time restricted and rushing, but we took it slowly and let some of the crowds get ahead of us just for some peace and quiet...good luck
