I am thinking of setting for the Camino mid-March, but am now wondering if the weather will be squally and orrible. Has anyone been around that time?

Yes, it can be cold especially in the mountains and there is still a chance of snow - the locals in any areas will tell you before you set out esp from St Jean.
And you have two more mountain ranges to cross, even in the summer I found parts of these cold the last time I walked. So some warm clothes are required.
Why do I keep walking when driving is faster?

hello. i am also considering beginning in march ... around easter sunday ... and was wondering about the weather and the number of pilgrims that walk around this time. ... i have walked the camino once before ... 4 years ago ... beginning in vezelay, france in november ... and i did encounter cold & snow ... but it was fantastic. now i am in a different place in my life and am interested to see how 'the road' will seem similar and different since i am. i would love to hear any thoughts or comments or advice.
It will be busy around easter and then will quieten down a little again. However I had a friend who walked at this time a year ago and he said he found there were lots of pilgrims early in the year last year.
I think between now and 2010 it will get very busy.
