    Default Posting stuff to Santiago?

    Hi,

I'm going to be starting the camino in about a week from St Jean Pied de Port, but on this trip after i finish the camino I'm spending another month or so hostelling, and so want to have a few more clothes and things that i dont need on the camino but want for city life! I've heard you can send a parcel in the mail to be held under your name in Santiago de Compostela, but does anyone know how you would address such a parcel? I have left myself some time to send something from Bayonne before i go to St JPDP. Thanks ahead of time for any instructions or suggestions!

-p.s. sorry if you've seen this twice i belatedly realized it may have been more suited to the equipment section than the general i put it in...

I sent you the address of the various Spanish post offices along the route inc Santiago.

Remember to put your name as it appears in your passport and put "Camino" and your estimated date of pickup on the lable.

    Hey,
Has anyone send a small suitcase/bag from Pamplona or a similar start on the Camino Frances to Santiago de Compostela? If so, how big/heavy was the package and do you remember roughly how much is cost? I just checked how much it will cost to send it from Canada to Santiago and its way too expensive.

    Thanks.

I would suggest using the new Camino Travel Centre - I have been told that the post offices are now only holding mail for two weeks.

I would love to know if this is true, if anyone can confirm at any time please let me know.

According to that second link, the pdf that covey put up they are only holding mail for two weeks. My plan is to send a bag to The Camino Travel Center, I'm just trying to figure out a cheap way of getting it there.

Do I bite the bullet and pay a ton of money to send it from Canada? or do I send it from Pamplona to The Camino Travel Center in Santiago de Compostela?

Has anyone here send a package from the begining of Camino Frances to Santiago? How much did the shipping with Spains postal service cost you?

    Costa.

The 2-week limit mentioned in the pdf Covey sent seems to refer to poste restante in the UK. It would be interesting to know if this is also the case in Spain. Do anyone have this information?

    Hey Everyone,
Soo... I just finished mi camino de santiago! I am in Santiago de Compostela right now. Here?s the deal with mailing you?re stuff within Spain. Its really cheap, I had an extra suitcase for my trip to Greece which I will be leaving for soon... the entire contents of the suitcase broke down into 3 large boxes and with shipping cost under $20Euro.

A friend posted his things from Pamplona and it took 15days to arrive in santiago, then they held it here. Tons of people just send their things to the main post office in Santiago, keep their receipts, and pick it up when they arrive in Santiago. I know 2 people personally who did this with no problem.

    Buen Camino!
