Golfe Juan

We arrived in Nice airport late on Saturday evening and stood around looking like tourists wondering where to either get the bus or train to Golfe Juan.  I was no use, I don’t know French – but I decided I needed a cig and headed to the nearest exit and lit up.  And low and behold that was right beside the bus that goes along the coast to Cannes.  The bus dropped us less than 100 metres from the apartment and I fell asleep shortly after and slept right through the night to wake well refreshed for our first day on the Cote de Azure.

The landing at Nice airport is great as the plane flies along the coast and the views are great. The bus is left out of the terminal very near where you exit the baggage collection, the cost of the bus to Golfe Juan is €8.  The airport train station is about a 10 minutes walk straight ahead from the terminal and not well sign posted.

Right opposite our apartment is a Boulangerie, there is one on almost every corner and the baking is great – and so cheap compared to what we are used to in Dublin.  Fresh bread never tasted so good.

We decided to take it easy on our first day and just go for a wander along the promenade.  That wander lasted about 4 hours…  We just end up walking wherever we go.

So some detail.  Golfe Juan is much better than Juan la Pins, it is cheaper for food, much cheaper – you can have a good meal out for less than €30 – and it is very friendly with delicious food.  There are many places to eat along the area of the harbour.  The walk to Juan les Pins takes about an our and is along the side of the sea.  There is more shopping in Juan les Pins, but I think if you need anything Nice is better for shopping.
