Buen Camino

Update 4th Feb 2011

I’ve been doing some cleaning up on the site and going back through some of the things I have written over the years.  This was the first ever post I wrote on any blog on the Internet.  It is funny to look back on it now as I am so used to writing for the net.  However I am discovering that I have not written as much as I though I had over the years.

To this date I have only written 227 pages on this site.  I am current up dating much of the information and finishing some like the section on the Camino Frances which has been a few pages short of being finished for over a year.  It is just too easy to get distracted and concentrate on others things and then some things just get forgotten.

Also I decided to expand the site to include all my information on Ireland and walking holidays, just because I want to and for no other reason.  At one point I was a bit of a purest thinking that the information allowed here would only be about the Camino, but there is lots now, but it is still mostly about travel.

It has been a pleasure running this site for the last five years.  Mostly I get support from many people I don’t know and have never met.  However I receive a fair amount of mails from people complaining about my spelling, a strange life I think that someone would bother so much to write to me to correct a mistake that makes no real difference to the page.  But thanks for the effort as I do the corrections.

Over the years the site was hacked twice – once while I was on holiday, that was a pain taking a day from my holiday to fix the site.  At other times the software has become vulnerable to spam and cost me a lot of time fixing things again.

But overall walking the Camino and then writing this site has changed my life for the better.

Thanks for welcoming questions. I have many. I’m a mother of an adult son. He is walking
the English trail to SdC. The adventure will start on Nov 15 and he plans to walk about
80km in 5-6 days. Is this possible? Will it be easy for him to meet other walkers..,.
simply for safety sake? Sorry…typical mother questions. Does he need a sleeping bag,
    blanket, etc. Thanks. Rosemary

    hi rosemary,

80km in 5/6 days is not a problem. yes he will meet others, very easily, yes he needs a sleeping a bag – a good warm one for this time of the yea.

he will be safer here than in any city in europe – it is very safe. no blanket.

he will be fine, people of all ages walk the caminio de santiago and enjoy it with out any problems.

    all the best leslie.
