During the last week I have received two letters from people I don’t know and have never spoken to – of course I must have given them my home address at some point, but I can’t remember when.
The mail from each of them is almost identical – updated information on hostels along the Camino. Great – thank you both, one who included their name and the other it appears wanted to remain nameless.
I often found along the Camino many acts of selflessness – mostly from the local Spanish population. Pilgrims in general I found a bit too self-centred, in many ways understandable when one is walking such a long distance.
However I just love it when these things happen to me – someone is giving the information to me to pass on to others, and nobody wants anything from anyone else. Bloody great.
I live in the centre of Dublin a very busy and crowded little city, and after a while I stop seeing people and just see “things” in my way – this type of action brings me back to seeing the people again. So, thanks very much both of you.
